We were in the car driving to the Tolleys and I was trying to help her remember her uncles who she would see.
Me: Uncle Nathan is tall.
M: I’m tall!
Me: Uncle Nathan is smart.
M: I’m smart!
Me: Uncle Nathan wants to become a doctor, like Daddy.
M: I want to be a doctor too!
Me: Do you like people? Doctors like to help people.
M: I help people.
Me: Do you like bodies? Doctors fix bodies.
M. I don’t want to be a doctor. I don’t like bodies.
Me: Why don’t you like bodies?
M: Bodies are stinky. They have pee in them.
Whenever I get impatient with her at night time, sometimes I start singing her bedtime songs really fast (and in a grumpy voice) and Madeleine will use her hand to motion to me and say, “Calm down, Mom. Calm down.”
Madeleine was playing with a folder/paper organizer in the car and the flap kept closing on her hand and the papers. She got really angry and started whining and was clearly frustrated, so while I was driving I tried to calm her down asking her what the problem was and to calm down and it’s okay. Her response? “This is really frustrating me. Yeah. I need to put it away. It makes me frustrated.”
After watching Peter Pan movie... “They are a happy family!”
We were walking through Grosvenor Market after going swimming. Madeleine was delightfully arrayed in flip flops, a swim towel-dress, and big sunglasses, with her hair in pig tails. She was adorable. When we walked into the market, everyone looked at her and smiled, people waved and many said “hello” to her and basically everyone was happy to see such a cute kid. Madeleine got all shy and wouldn’t really say anything to anyone but shyly waved her hand in small movements, all tucked into her chest. After we passed most of the people and made it to the produce section, Madeleine took my hand and looked up at me and said, “People like me!” It’s her new phrase whenever she gets adored in public places. Oh the vanity. "People like me!"

I love that girl! She is just so smart. I am amazed by all of the things that she realizes at such a young age.
ReplyDeleteShe is too stinking cute. I wish our girls could play together!
