Empathy + Crazy = ?

As a finale to my marathon, scratching-the-surface, posts... I cannot believe that I forgot to share this in February.

In the following conversation, right before my Dissertation Proposal Defense (just the proposal, folks! don't get all excited!), Madeleine shows her kind and caring personality accentuated with a small dose of insanity.

Me to Marc: I am so nervous about my proposal defense. I'm literally fearful. I think I'm going to cry. Better that I cry now than there at the proposal though.
{Madeleine overhears the conversation.}
Madeleine to me: Don't cry. Don't cry. Why are you crying? Why cry?
Me: Well, I'm worried I will cry because I'm so nervous to present my homework to my teachers. {Trying to use terms that she can identify}
Madeleine: Don't cry. {She looks concerned and empathetically comes near to cuddle me}
Me: Will you hold my hand?
{She starts holding my hand and petting it and singing}
Madeleine: I am a child of God and He has send me here, He send me here. I am a child of God, child of God, send me here.
{I smile at her through tears of joy, not fear now}
Me: Thank you.
Madeleine: See? It makes you happy! You are not afraid of the teachers. No crying. The teachers are nice to you! They will be nice to you!
Me: Thank you, sweetheart.
{Madeline tilts her head and looks thoughtfully at me then reaches out to my chest with one hand.}
Madeleine: Teachers will touch your boo boos.

Wha-at??? !!!
