I love meerkats. Laws they scamper so quickly and stand so dignified and erect and yet they are so ridiculously irreverent! My pet of choice if I ever ever really wanted pets. I like to see meerkats at the National Zoo. I make Madeleine watch them for hours. Okay, not hours, but a long time.
I love sleeping on my stomach. And yet, even though I craved it like crazy while I was super-preggo, now that I can sleep on my belly, the desire has diminished. I guess the grass is always greener? But I love the way it stretches out my back.
I love nursing. Yes. Breastfeeding. Despite the horrors of getting it started and all the trouble I had with it with Madeleine (details to be withheld) I love that it forces me to STOP my day, and relax and ponder and bond. Or be thoughtless, sleepy, and stupid. Either way, a good pause in the day. Several times a day. I think it's healthy. I mean, for me, as well as for the baby. In addition, I've been re-reading my childhood classics while nursing, which is SUCH a treat! I almost long to nurse so that I can pick up whichever installment of the Anne of Green Gables series I was so recently endowed with (thank you Christmas Ryan!) and read, read, read and dream. Last year, Marc also gifted me (at my request) with The Little House on the Prairie boxed set. Goooooood books.
I love Havarti cheese. Have I mentioned this before? Well, this morning, I cut a pear and my cheese on a plate that I had used for my cinnamon-sprinkled breakfast bagel. Thus, a touch of cinnamon landed on both my cheese and pear. And you know what? Delightfully delicious.
Lastly, I love that there may, just may, be a light at the beginning of the tunnel. I say beginning, because at this point, I have a potential dissertation proposal defense date. Which means that it's the end of the beginning and the beginning of the end - if I make it to the defense date and if I pass. Once I get over this hump of a proposal, all I have left {hahahahahahaha! -insert psychotic laughter- A.L.L. all? All...} is finding funding and researching and writing the durned dissertation! And yet I love that I can taste some temporary endpoint on the tippy tip of my tongue.
I love your loves! Havarti, yes! And we are reading the Little House books to Peter. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteWay to keep plugging away...you'll have that degree in no time!!
I LOVE Little House on the Prairie! I was just thinking about how much I wanted the box set just a few days ago...ahhh
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite memories of childhood (and okay, I'll admit it, my teenage years) is that every summer I would faithfully reread both the Anne of Green Gables Series AND the Little House on the Prarie Books. Treasures! Can't wait to read them to my girls. And I totall agree about the breastfeeding and the breaks, it is very wonderful.
