L is for the way you look at me...

I don't know why I've been thinking about this... maybe it's because Marc and I just celebrated our 2 year anniversary! I love him. And thinking about how much I love him made me think about the kind of spouses I hope my children (not that I have any yet, but I'm a forward thinker. ;)) find.

I used to have all sorts of lists, yes, real lists, in my journal when I was younger about the kind of qualities necessary for "the one." One list had 41 items and in the top 5 was "Eagle Scout." Alas, I never found my Eagle Scout, but I'm hoping Marc is someday called as a Scout Master in church to somehow make up for it.

But now I think that my motherly advice to my future daughter(s) could be something as simple as three things (in no particular order):
1. Loves God, has a strong testimony, is very active in church. 2. Loves and cherishes my daughter and shows it. 3. Has aspirations and goals for a good, solid future and has a fairly concrete plan of how to accomplish such goals.

Of course there are all the other things that are great details: handsome, funny, loves his family, fit and active, brilliant, etc. etc. But if a guy ever came to me to ask for my daughter's hand, I think I'd quiz him on the three things listed above... probably nothing more, so as not to terrify the kid.
I'm grateful that Marc is my hubby and meets the three criteria above and then some!

  2. I totally had a list like that! How lucky are we to have found great guys that fit it and then some?
