Just a Glimpse Into Ma Vie

I know it's so tacky to have a plastic grocery bag-lined garbage in full sight in every room. I grew up having a wastebasket in nearly every room, accessible, easy to clean out, refill, etc. Utility is key. But it makes a room look so messy, especially when full of trash. But what to do?? If I only had a waste bin in the kitchen I think I would die. Every time I throw out a receipt when entering it at the computer I would have to *gasp* get up and walk my lazy derriere over to the kitchen, a good 10-12 steps, to do so! {p.s. i don't actually enter all my receipts... but i do sit at the computer a lot and throw papers that clutter on the desk into the wastebasket nearby} Or diapers, or tissues, or half-pieces of crayons found under the couch. Conundrum.

Also, may I just say that the ONE time, the ONE time, folks, that I didn't thoroughly clean my bathroom before having guests over was the ONE time that all 3 of our dinner guests chose to actually enter and use the bathroom. C'mon! Give me a break! I mean, I did the easy wipe-down of sink, light switch and toilet, and there were clean towels. But no thorough toilet bowl cleansing (I usually assign that to Marc), dust-busting of the floor, and certainly no scrub of the tub. Murphy's law... because every time I DO clean... no one ever uses the WC during a dinner party.

I have a disease folks. It's called: I sometimes put plasticware (1 word? 2?) into the dishwasher. I'm pretty sure this is hereditary because my mother still washes plastic ware when we go camping.

Sometimes I wake up not feeling fully rested. And then I look down and my hands and fingers are clenched tight. This is unnatural. I need to relax in my sleep, right?

Oh what I would give to have my home fully furnished in a balanced combination of Ikea and World Market. Sometimes I walk into World Market and I want to faint with joy. Seriously? It's just a whiff of "travel + style" that makes me happy. It's fanciful. It's useful. It tastes good. Pair that with simple lines and effective design from Ikea. Ahhhhh....

  1. Okay. If it's next-to-the-computer trash, do you really need a bag in it? I mean, can't you just not have the bag, and put paper trash in, and then dump the trash into a large trash bag on trash day? That's how we do. Because I'm with you: totally dislike the look. Plus, now, it's going to cost you. Ha.

But do you WASH ziploc bags? My mom does. Glad to know that didn't convey with me.

  2. I bet all of your dinner guests did a thorough inspection of your unscrubbed tub too. :)

  3. i know what you mean about not using the bathroom. I too always clean it AND we move the kitty box to our bathroom, light a candle, etc. but usually NO ONE uses it. who DOESN'T go to the bathroom for like 2 hours???? Tonight, however, one guest used it like 3 times. YESSSSS. (and I HAD cleaned....for the first time in a while, might i add...)
