I'll have to catch up on Thanksgiving and post-birth fun in another post. For now, here are some of my random thoughts and doings lately... some related to Christmas, some not.
{I love how babies look 5x chubbier when they are in their car seats.}
[Marc was home on of the first Mondays of the month and so we have Christmas decorations up! He hung bows on the high ceiling lights, and our friends lent us a Christmas tree which we put up that night for FHE, I directed other decorations into place while nursing, and Madeleine calls everything "Christmas!" - lights, tree, Santa, poinsettas. I love the look of a decorated home - it's the first step to feeling like Christmas for me.]
~Madeleine is infatuated with the TV show (we get it from Netflix instant watch) 'Go Diego Go!' and from this she has learned the phrase "to the rescue!" She's always rescuing something or someone. But her pronunciation is: "to the restroom!"~
^^I love homemade Christmas gifts.^^
!!Surprise, surprise: spent an absolutely lovely day in NYC (yes, only a day) where I didn't freeze and had the pleasure of good company. I honestly can't say which was better - the company or the fact that I wasn't cold. Both are blessings!!!
%It's so different having a baby in the winter. Madeleine was frequently in little more than her diaper the first month (a habit of hers that continues today) and we had lots of skin to skin contact while nursing because neither of us could bear the heat very well. Sophie always has a hat on and is always in clothing. I rarely see her cute little baby body. Just one of the million differences between baby #1 and baby #2 in general and M & S specifically.%
*Christmas MUSIC is a major component of the Christmas-y feeling for me. It inspires, it reminds, it touches, it makes me happy.*
[I love Havarti cheese. I have eaten a lot of it this season. Also, clementines.]
--Complaint: Hips still wide as the Mississippi = can fit into only about 2 pairs of pants and sweats = very limited wardrobe = wear the same outfit every other day.--
~Some favorite recent pastimes: reading with Madeleine on my lap, cuddling with Sophie.~
\\My dedication to loving the Metro and being a hardcore one-car family has dramatically dwindled with the coming of cold weather. It's a little less thrilling these days.//
+Christ our Savior is born. He lives. He loves us.+
So happy to hear that you didn't freeze to death in NYC. I was worried about you.
ReplyDeleteClementines are soooo good and cold weather is soooo bad.
Loved the update. You guys look great! I, too, am loving all the Christmasy Christmas stuff. With kids, it's all 100% cooler.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
Loved reading your thoughts. :) I can relate to so many of them. Especially the part about having dad home and giving directions to him while I sit with the baby. :) Good times.
ReplyDeleteI love when you list your random thoughts. It just reminds me why I like you.
