The Bathroom

The bathroom. Generally not the locale for children under two and a half. But now...

She is also almost out of diapers! Yes, I know this is probably a premature post, and I know that she may regress when baby #2 arrives, and she's not keeping dry through the night yet, but hear ye me! She KNOWS! Suffice it to say, Madeleine is grown up enough now to recognize signals from her body and she knows when to go potty! She has a few accidents here and there, but for the past 2 weeks I'd say she's 92%! Pretty good for the little squirt!

Finally, finally! After almost 2.5 years, Madeleine appears to enjoy bathtime! I consider this big progress. She hasn't, perhaps, been the most hygenic of kids... :) Well, first, in Philly, we had only a shower, no bath, so she WAS clean by taking showers with us daily, but she rarely got to enjoy a BATH in a bathtub (only on vacations, or if you consider the little plastic tubs or baby bathtubs that we sometimes used). Then, when we moved to MD, I guess she was not used to being submerged in so much liquid, so she didn't really enjoy the bath. Imagine screaming and kicking. Plus, in Philly we were recommended NOT to bathe her too frequently due to eczema. New physician advice has since rendered a 180 in our approach but needless to say, Madeleine hasn't always had consistent bathtime. Until now! Yay! She USUALLY likes it. She FINALLY will sit and crawl and lay on her belly and back in the water. She SOMETIMES tolerates having bath toys in with her.

  3. Hooray for bathrooms! 2 1/2 and 92 percent potty trained sounds wonderful. Good work Madeline and Mommy. :)

And yay for bath time. It's great to finally have kids who love bath time instead of screaming the whole time. Anything that makes the day to day more fun and less stressful is a cause to be celebrated. Here's to many more happy baths (but hopefully not potty-training-caused baths.)

Psst: It takes a lot more from mom than the credit being given here... God Natalie (and Marc too)!!!
