My daughter is Thanksgiving. What do you mean by this? you ask. Well, in short:
SHE'S ONE BIG TURKEY WITH SOME FIXIN'S ON THE SIDE!
That's what I sang to her this morning when she slyly and mischievously looked up at me, arms above her head, stretching, periodically, coyly sticking her tongue out at me.
Turkey reasoning #1:
She has NO schedule! This girl can euphemistically be described as a "free spirit." Or, you can just say she's sporadic. Untamed. Dances to her own tune. Always. I fear ever talking about her "schedule" because the moment I do, she inevitably switches up what little schedule she maintained for the previous two days. Take note, no schedule or consistency of hers has ever lasted more than 2, maybe 2.5 days. This includes the major events of her life, namely, eating and sleeping. Now, to her credit, she at least DOES both, so I guess that can be described as consistent, but, really? Can I not ask for just a bit more at this point?
She sometimes leads me on, pretending to eat every 2 hours, but then shakes things up by going every 1 hour at night. Or she pretends that she's ready to sleep through the night and does so for 2 nights, but no more. Or she'll show forth her steely disposition and stubborn (gets it from her Dad) attitude and whimper for a good 40 minutes without falling asleep even though she's sooooooo tired. And then once I pick her up and decide to feed her, she promptly falls asleep after 30 seconds on the breast. So then I let her sleep in my lap for a bit, but as soon as I try to lay her down someone other than on myself, she wakes up, SMILES COYLY, and chews on her hand pretending to be a bit hungry. But when I try to feed her again, she decides she doesn't really want to eat, she wants to smile, grin and laugh... which of course doesn't really bother me, it's just the RANDOMNESS of it all!
Well, despite the fact that Ana called her "Ms. Marc Jr." yesterday, she truly is a girl after my own heart. She may LOOK like Marc, but her disposition and indecisiveness unwittingly comes from moi. 'Tis a true cycle of karma, of what goes around comes around.
Fixin's reasoning #1:
She's sooooo stinkin' cute!!! The big eyes, the silly smile, the kickin' chicken legs, the little fists, the olive skin, the baby nose, her myriad of facial expressions.
Therefore, I declare:
My daughter is Thanksgiving! One big turkey with some fixin's on the side!
Wow she is like her mamma! Love it!
ReplyDeleteShe just keeps getting cuter and cuter!
Well, I have to say that Madeleine and Ethan are meant for each other. At 8 months he still won't keep a schedule for more than a couple of days! Always keeping me on my toes. I will think I'm getting slightly frustrated and then he'll give me one of those smiles or laughs and it just melts me!
ReplyDeleteLook at those cheeks! I can't believe how much she has grown in the 3 weeks since I've seen her (has it really been that long?!)! Love the descriptions - what a cutie!
ReplyDeletePerfect description, I love it. She is oh so cute :)
ReplyDeleteOh Nat she is so cute.. I love your analogy....
ReplyDeleteYou're right. She is so stinkin' cute.
ReplyDeletewow, that first picture up there is a keeper! what a cutie, and how funny about Thanksgiving...i like all these posts!
ReplyDeletewell, the advantage is that without schedules, there's nothing to mess up--so I'd say, go for a trip while she's still unpredictable! xoxo
ReplyDeletehe he he. That's a cute way to put it. She is adorable. You can't help but love her cute little face.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. I didn't even know you had a baby! She is adorable.
ReplyDeleteMy mom ran across your blog from some relative at work so she forwarded it to me. So fun! I'll peek in every so often to catch up. My blog is an afterthought to many other projects I have going on, but it is there...somewhere.
