So, when I finally, finally finished my last paper of the semester on Tuesday the 7th at 4:30 am (!) (and did freakin' awesome on it!) Marc and I set off to have a good, but short, adventure before he had to do his ENT rotation away in Texas.
We decided to go somewhere in NYC that was less traveled, somewhere we'd never been before. And the Bronx Zoo hit the spot! We were so happy to rendez-vous with our extremely talented and good-hearted New Haven friends, the Davis' and their little girl, Holly, whom we'd never met! Yahoo! A zoo and old friends all in one trip!
Highlights: Awesome weather. Wednesdays at the Bronx Zoo are free/by donation. The bears were very active. Lots of great animals all around. Good company. A well-behaved baby who looked so cute in her hat. Delicious dinner afterwards in the nearby little Italy area. Together as a family for a day trip.
Drawbacks: 30 minutes of engine-off, standstill traffic just before the Lincoln Tunnel to get into the city. We let Madeleine "drive" during the time, so for her, it was probably a highlight.
Soooo much fun! Glad you guys could havesome good fun family time before Marc left:)Great job on that paper!!!! 4:30am?! Yikes, Ben knows your pain! he's done several of those this quater and it's not even over yet! 1 1/2 more weeks!!!!
